A NEW DIRECTION AND OPPORTUNITY FOR ERP

ERP TO HOST NATIONAL OPEN IN ‘07

(Saturday, October 7, 2006) After weeks of consideration, Eddyville Raceway Park, Oskaloosa, IA will become an NHRA Member Track in 2007. “We were contacted by the people at NHRA with some ideas and opportunities” said Track Operator Gerald Kramer. “We look forward to hosting an NHRA National Open in 2007 with the possibility of a Junior Dragster Regional Race“ he concluded.

“The opportunity to keep Eddyville Raceway Park and Cordova Dragway, Cordova, Illinois in the same Division was very important” stated facilities promoter Scott Gardner. “Both tracks will attend the NHRA Division 5 Bracket Finals in Topeka, Kansas in 2007” he continued.

“While we were not necessarily dissatisfied with the IHRA, the  direction that they are going doesn’t afford opportunities that we will have with the NHRA, for either of our race tracks” Gardner reflected. “We wanted to be absolutely sure that this move would not only be good for the tracks themselves, but also the racers” he stated. "The racers need to know that NHRA is as sportsman friendly as the IHRA has been, and I can personally assure them that this is indeed the case as I have reviewed their programs and procedures" concluded Gardner.

Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., the NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States.
